BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) - After remnants from Tropical Storm Christobal led to some Branch County residents not having power for as long as six days earlier this month, the National Weather Service says the area is in the enhanced category for severe thunderstorms on Friday night.

Forecasters say scattered thunderstorms are possible for much of Friday but the greatest risk for severe thunderstorms is for Friday evening.

Damaging wind gusts are the primary concern followed by localized flooding due to rain rates of one inch per hour.

The severe thunderstorm risk is said to be greatest near the Michigan state line.

This follows the June 10 outbreak of storms that led to trees and power lines getting knocked down and a large amount of damage in Bronson.
