Greensburg’s singing florist Gary Pratt is celebrating two steps forward in his musical career.

The owner of Le Jardin Florals and Home Accents has a new album and a new record label.

With a March 26 release date, “Something Worth Remembering” will be the country singer’s third full-length album. The first single, “A Song You Can Drink A Beer To,” will debut on March 5.

The album contains a mix of Pratt’s original songs and others penned by Nashville-based songwriters. It was recorded at Tonic Studios in McKeesport and at OmniSound Studios in Nashville.

Tonic put him in touch with MTS Management, parent company of his new label, MTS Records.

The 11-song effort was produced by Bryan Cole and engineered by Doug Kasper. It features backing vocals from 300K Spotify streams artist Matt Westin and a duet with iTunes charting artist and label mate, Savannah.

“I’ve been waiting for this for so long, working so hard, getting discouraged — but I just keep doing it because I love it,” Pratt said. “This is like another level of life, and I’m ready for it.”

The first single is not one of Pratt’s songs, but he said, “When I heard that song, I thought it would be a great first release. It’s a song that could relate to anybody. In a bad situation, like a breakup, you drink a beer. Something happens that’s good, let’s celebrate with a beer.”

The title song is by Tony Arata, best known as author of Garth Brooks’s 1990 hit, “The Dance.” Though he didn’t write it, the song has special meaning to Pratt.

It reminds him of his late brother, Dennis Pratt.

“I thought of the little things, the good things that we should remember,” he said. “When it snows, I think of him. In the winter, I’d come to the shop and he’d have the sidewalk cleaned off.

“He was my little brother, but he was a big guy. When I would go out to sing, he was like my bodyguard,” he said.

Pratt is a longtime regular on area stages, followed from gig to gig by a group of fans known as the Kick It Up Dancers.

He also has performed in Nashville and at the CMA Fest, the Tennessee State Fair and Rocky Gap Music Festival. He has opened for country stars like Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, Crystal Gayle, Ronnie Milsap and Dwight Yoakam.

Signing with MTS, he said, “has really given me a lot of confidence. It’s really given me a spark.”

While live shows are few and far between during the pandemic, Pratt will be among entertainers for Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s virtual Party at The Palace on Feb. 27.

He also has a series of interviews set up with radio stations and magazines.

“I’ll be promoting the single to get momentum going for it before it comes out,” he said.

And he’ll still be making floral arrangements and serving customers at Le Jardin.

“I’m blessed that I have two things in my life that I truly love,” he said.
