The success of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 season was mostly credited to the heroics of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Recently, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy called the gunslinger “a competitive prick,” owing to his playing nature.
Chiefs beat writer Sam McDowell shared Mahomes’ reply to Bieniemy on Twitter:
Patrick Mahomes on EB calling him a competitive prick: It's our nature, not just mine. … I'm going to go out there and compete every single time and I'm gonna have that fire every play.

Whatever they have going down in Kansas City seems to work. The team achieved huge successes in recent years. The Chiefs finished with a 12-4 record for the second-straight year en route to clinching the AFC West Division.
The team then marched in the 2019 NFL Playoffs as the second seed in the AFC playoffs. The Chiefs initially dismantled another contender, the Houston Texans, 51-31, to advance to the next round. The team also brought the rampaging Tennessee Titans back to earth with a resounding 35-24 win.
The Chiefs eventually met the 2019 NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl. The 49ers were poised to win it all until Mahomes and the team pulled off a comeback to emerge victorious, 31-20.
Mahomes was named the Super Bowl LIV MVP. The win ended a 50-year championship drought and simultaneously created a new dawn for the Chiefs.
Upon entering the 2020 season, the Chiefs are looking to run it back once more. The majority of the players from the championship team were brought back by the front office. They also handed out paychecks to secure the services of their core pieces in Mahomes, defensive tackle Chris Jones, and most recently, tight end Travis Kelce.
The 2020 season will see if the Chiefs can successfully defend their Super Bowl title against the rest of the league.
