Looking for evidence of how consistently hard rookie Alec Bohm has drilled the ball?
Bohm, whose season debut did not come until Game 14 in mid-August, already leads the Phillies in line-drive hits.
He doubled off of fellow rookie Sixto Sanchez in his first at-bat Sunday for his 23rd line-drive hit of the season. He is tied with Didi Gregorius for the team lead.
Just under 20% of Bohm's balls in play this season have been "hard hit," which is classified as a ball that comes off the bat at a velocity of 95 mph or higher. Bohm has done so 4% more than Bryce Harper, 5% more than Rhys Hoskins and 9% more than Gregorius.
Bohm's average exit velocity is second on the team behind only Jay Bruce, who swings and misses much more than the rookie.
Bohm is charging toward the NL Rookie of the Year award. He's locked in a battle with Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth and perhaps Dodgers pitcher Dustin May.
Cronenworth is hitting .315/.371/.538 with 18 extra-base hits and 20 RBI in 143 plate appearances.
Bohm is hitting .330/.377/.476 with 11 extra-base hits and 18 RBI in 114 plate appearances.
