As New Yorkers, the love of pizza is practically ingrained in us.
Therefore it is no surprise that the Best Pizza categories in the Dining Out group of the Times Union's annual Best of the Capital Region bring in the most votes year after year.
The reigning champ in that category is none other than Kay’s Pizza on Burden Lake in Averill Park. There's no denying that there's just something about Kay's that has locals driving from across the Capital Region to get a bite of that pie. The restaurant has stood the test of time for over 62 years, undoubtedly thanks to their pizzas.
It is worth noting, however, that Kay's Pizza is a seasonal establishment that usually opens each year in March and shuts down for the winter in October. That means for nearly five months of the year, the Capital Region's Best Pizza is unobtainable.
Could this leave room for another Best Pizza contender to squeeze in and claim the title? There's only one way to find out.
You have a chance to nominate your favorite pizza place in the Best of 2021 poll until Feb. 5. From there, the top 5 restaurants (or more in the case of a tie) that receive the most nominations will move on to our final voting round, which runs from Feb. 22 to March 4.

If crowning a new best pizza champ isn't incentive enough to participate, we will give $1,000 each to two randomly selected people — one who submits a nomination and one who votes in this year’s poll.
The winners can't change unless you tell us, so the fate of the Capital Region's Best Pizza is in your hands.
