Coming into the game with a combined record of 12-1, the Lady Pioneers and Lady Hurricanes looked on paper like it would be a competitive game. The Lady Pioneers and Lady Hurricanes are two of the best 5A teams in the state.
Jonesboro had a clear height advantage as their center stood 6’3.
The Sportsmanship clock was enacted on the Lady Hurricanes (6-2, 0-1) with four minutes left in the fourth.
The Lady Pioneers led buzzer to buzzer and held a double digit lead for three quarters of the game.
The large lead for the Lady Pioneers (7-0, 1-0) came about due to two things, threes and defense.
Combined, Batesville made 10 threes throughout the game. As a team the Lady Pioneers shot almost 50 percent from beyond the arc.
The Lady Pioneers stout defense held to Hurricanes to just seven points in the second quarter. The Lady Pioneers held the Lady Hurricanes to just one point in the first four minutes of the quarter. This allowed Batesville to gain even more of a lead.
Right after halftime, the Lady Hurricanes were forced to call two quick timeouts.
Kaylee Clark, who just signed with Williams Baptist to play basketball next fall, scored or assisted on every opening score of each quarter. She ended the night with 13 points and two assist.
Isabella Higginbottom led all scorers with 26 points.
Taylor rush led the team in assists with four.
London Cuzzort pulled down the most rebounds for the Lady Pioneers with five.
The Lady Pioneers second string players hit the 80 point mark. The final was 83-50.
Fifty is the lowest total points the Lady Hurricanes have scored all season.
Eighty-three is the most points the Lady Pioneers have scored so far this year.
The Lady Pioneers will take a 10 day break for Christmas break. They head to Beebe to take on the Lady Badgers.
