Zeta is expected to gradually strengthen over the next 48 hours, and become a Category 1 hurricane before moving over the Yucatán Peninsula late Monday. Zeta’s projected path shows the storm accelerating into the southern Gulf of Mexico Tuesday, and reaching the central Gulf of Mexico by late Tuesday as it turns north.
