General Motors has issued a voluntary product emissions recall for the 2020 model-year Cadillac CT4 and CT5 luxury sedans over an issue related to the vehicles’ emissions labels.
The problem: in affected vehicles, the Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) label may not contain the correct On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system identifier for the OBD II port.
The hazards: this problem does not pose an immediate safety hazard to vehicle occupants. The VECI label displays relevant emissions-related information, however, so it is ideal for the proper version of this label to be installed on the vehicle.
The fix: since a new label can be easily installed, and to reduce any inconvenience to the customer, GM will send the correct label directly to customers along with detailed instructions for installation. Customers can install the label themselves or, if they desire, they may take the label to their dealership for free installation. The VECI label is usually located under the hood of a vehicle, sometimes on the underside of the hood itself, on one of the strut towers or on the radiator support.

Number of affected vehicles: GM has not said how many vehicles may be affected by this particular issue.
Owners should: owners of affected vehicles will receive a replacement VECI label in the mail. If owners are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this action, they can visit my.gm.com/recalls and type in their VIN to see any open recalls that may be active on it.
